Andy Jorris got the Eagles started with a 3 point basket Tuesday night, but the 1st quarter would ultimately belong to the visiting Ft. Zumwalt West Jaguars. The Jags would lead the Eagles 18-7 after the first quarter.
Similar to their season opener against Timberland, the Eagles would battle back in the 2nd quarter and chip away at the Ft. Zumwalt West lead. Caleb Overall found Hayden Henningsen in the corner for a 3 ball that would ignite the Eagles. An Overall offensive rebound and dish to Brian Jones for another bucket would close the Jaguars lead to 6. The Jags would finally get on the board in the 2nd quarter off a 3 point shot on a baseline out of bounds play to take a 21-13 lead. Henningsen would answer on the other end with a great basket cut and assist from Chase Krogman. The Jags would get another bucket down low only to be answered by a Caleb Overall 3 point basket. The first half would end with the Jaguars leading 26-21.
The Eagles would come out in the second half and pick up right where they left off. Better ball movement on the offensive end contributed to another run by the Eagles in the 3rd quarter. At the end of the quarter the Eagles would hold a 44-39 lead.
While the Jaguars would tie the game in the 4th quarter, the Eagles would never trail the rest of the way en route to a 55-49 victory over Ft. Zumwalt West. Converting from the free throw line was vital for the Eagles down the stretch, going 6 for 8 in the last minute and a half to finish off the Jags.
Caleb Overall led all scorers in the game with 18 points, going 6 for 8 from the free throw line. Brian Jones tallied 11 points, several coming from offensive rebounds. Jayden Sims finished with 9 points, knocking down two important free throws in the last 30 seconds of the game.
Josh White led the Jaguars with 14 points. Jake Hampton scored in double digits as well with 10 for the game.
The Eagles are back in action Friday night on the road against the high powered offense of Francis Howell Central.
